Something About The Fire (Carlos Serrano Mix) by Adele vs. Daft Punk

You and me together
Nothing gets better

I probably have a few tracks in my collection that is mashed up with Daft Punk’s Something About Us. I didn’t take Carlos Serrano a long time to figure out that Adele’s Set Fire To The Rain blends so perfectly with Daft Punk. Just listen for yourself, they are a match made in heaven.

Check out The Knock’s mix of Daft Punk’s Something About Us & Ellie Goulding’s Under The Sheets here.

I Will Always Love Someone Like You (Adele/Whitney cover) by Jasmijn

Knowing that I’m a bit picky when it comes to Adele covers (see Work Drugs’ cover of Rolling in the Deep). I was extremely pleased when Jasmijn message me on tumblr asking me to check out her mashup of Adele’s Someone Like You and Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You. Her rendition is incredible and the transition to and from the two tracks are very well done. I just want to thank her again for sharing her work and I would like to share it to you guys too. In a way, this can also serve as a tribute to the late Whitney Houston. I never got a chance to show my appreciation for her work and this is a great way of doing it.

A little more information on Jasmijn! She’s a sweet 22 year old girl from Philadelphia. She has been mastering her craft and have been playing guitar for 4 years now. You can check her out on her tumblr and on her youtube page.

If you’d like to share your music and be featured in the blog, hit me up on tumblr or plain old email.

Loveless (Valentine’s Day Mix)
Despite the gloomy cover and title, this mix is actually the opposite of it. I wanted to make a mix that celebrates singlehood but then it evolve into something unexpected which became a collection of cheerful heart break songs (apparently, that’s a thing now). You want to cry your heart out but you dance instead. Still, there are songs about finding love, expressing love, just everyone’s cup of tea when it comes to love.
Every year, I make mixes on Vday as part of The Lonely Hearts Club tradition. Here are some of them — Sweet Disposition & The Lonely Hearts Club.
Tracklisting:
01. Allure - I Will Change Featuring Jordan Lee02. The Knocks - Can’t Shake Your Love03. Friendly Fires - Hurting (Tensnake Remix)04. Work Drugs - Rolling in the Deep (Adele Cover)05. Geographer - Verona06. Atlas Genius - Trojans07. Alex Winston - Choice Notes 08. Oh Land - Speak Out Now 09. Kimbra - Cameo Lover10. Elle Varner - Only Wanna Give It To You Featuring J. Cole11. Jhameel - Love Me Twice12. Ida Maria - Cherry Red13. Fitz & the Tantrums - L.O.V.14. Mark Ronson - Stop Me Featuring Daniel Merriweather15. Florence + The Machine - You’ve Got The Love (The xx Remix)

Congratulations to our Queen, ADELE! She deserves all of it. I’m really happy that she won all of the categories that she was nominated for. Her performance was an indication that she is officially back. To add to those wins are her stunningly beautiful outtakes from her Vogue Photoshoot. Now, let’s all bow and listen to her record, 21 again!

Rolling in the Deep (Adele Cover) by Work Drugs

Turned my sorrow into treasured gold

Usually, I’m very iffy about Adele covers because they can never live up to the original. A cover can either be spectacular even transcending or it can be a total disaster. In the case of Work Drugs’ cover of one of last year’s biggest hits, it’s the former! Their re-work is amazing they took the song to another level. The stripped back the original and the only thing recognizable is the lyrics which we all know by heart. It’s a refreshing take from all the Rolling in the Deep covers out there.
